Junior - B - World Curling champions will be soon decided

Some teams have secured a place for the playoffs. Kisakallio games of Junior Curling continue with frisky weather. Our good own milky way reflected brightly from the Lohja Kisakallio's sky as in the attached picture of Janne Ojanperä. You could imagine that someone could throw some stones along the milky way.

5th day of Junior - B - World Championships are being played at Lohja Kisakallio, Lohja, Finland

Junior Women

Russia has secured it's place in playoffs of the junior women's competition with six straight wins in group A. They will be joined by two teams from a triplet Japan, New Zealand and Latvia. Other teams of group A are out of playoffs. Russia secured it's continued tournament by winning Norway 10-2 early this morning. New Zealand won over Romania 8-5 and Japan rolled the "perfect game" by numbers 13-0 against Spain. There is still a lot to play in the last round-robin round in this group.

In group B, Estonians are leading the group with clean record, having took five wins. They are secure to move forward to playoff rounds. Other two positions will be settled between China (4 wins), Poland (3 wins) and Germany(3 wins). Poland plays the last game against Kazakhstan (0 wins) while China and Germany meet with each other.

In group C, Hungary and Czech rebublic are secure to playoffs but third place is still open.  Denmark and Italy will meet each other later today as Slovenia meets the group leader Hungary.

Junior Men

Germany will be one of the playoff teams from Junior men's group A, having won all of their six games so far. Korea is at 5 wins and before the last games Poland and Japan have still a chance for playoffs with 4 wins each. There will be two interesting games as top teams of the group will meet. Japan plays against Korea and Germany vs. Poland.

In Group B, the playoff teams have been settled. Italy has a perfect record 7-0 and will move forward. China is also preparing to playoffs with six wins, one loss. Czechs have one more game with Kazakhstan in the preliminary group but Czechs are already secure for third place of the group with 4 wins as other teams have already played all their games.

In Group C both Denmark and Russia collected six wins, one loss on the group stage and they continue to playoffs.

In Lohja, temperature has risen from -27 to -24 so there is a distant possibility that summer is coming in the future. In the meanwhile, we can enjoy some great winter weather of the North.
